Inspired by a Facebook post and the upcoming holidays, Travis and I go off on a tangent this week from regular business topics to discuss some movies that were critical in shaping our worldview as entrepreneurs. It’s interesting to see old movies with a different lens now, so let us know in the comments what movies that have been impactful for you.
Topics Discussed:
- Updates from Travis: Responsive design
- Updates from Terry: Leather laptop sleeve and spinoff brand
- “There is no spoon.”
- “You are not your fucking khakis.”
- “I’m gonna need those TPS reports.”
- “You forget what you want to remember, and remember what you want to forget.”
- “Without sense of self no paper, pedigree, or credentials can make you legit.”
- “To be a gangster was to own the world.”
- “Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”
- “You’re gonna eat lightnin’ and you’re gonna crap thunder!”
- “There’s a 95 pound Chinese man with a 160 million dollars behind this door.”

Hey Terry, The laptop sleeve business sounds interesting. Thought you might like to see a few similar reference points (other than the big guys like TOMS):

http://mohinders.com/
Both are more about the sourcing but are good examples of products with a purpose that people can support.
Good luck.
Thanks Fred, one thing I also realized this week after talking to some previous guests that had KS projects is that the product needs to stand alone on itself not just with a cool story, so need to work on that some more too. Cheers!
From looking at a lot of KS projects, half of that looks to be the photography. Lots of recycling and me too stuff on KS. E.g., https://www.kickstarter.com/stories/wallets
Yeah read that article a while back 😀
